The Benefits of the Kinect for the Xbox 360

There are a number of different games consoles available but Nintendo was the first company to release a games console that could help to keep you fit. Now other companies are jumping on the bandwagon after the success and one of those systems created is the Kinect for the Xbox 360. However, Mircosoft took their design one step further than Nintendo by making you the controller; there is no need to use a remote control for anything.

The Kinect works with sensors so you control the games with your body, such as a simple step to one side, or even by using your voice to sound out commands. Rather than sitting on the couch to play your video games, it makes you get up and get some exercise, without really realize that that is what you are doing.

The Kinect for the Xbox 360 only works if you do the movement that the screen requires. If you are supposed to be driving a car, then you will need to pretend to be driving a car. If you need to kick a ball, then you will need to do the movement of kicking the ball. The sensors will know if you are cheating and will tell you to get off the couch and start moving around.

The sensor is so good that by a simple wave of the hand, it will be able to tell that it is you playing and will choose your avatar automatically. You then have access to your own settings and can play whichever games you want without upsetting anybody else who uses the device. If the wave is not for you, then it is also voice activated. By saying “xbox” you will bring up the list of all the voice commands available to you in the game.

The Kinect for the Xbox 360 is a great development from the Nintendo Wii. While it has used similar technology, it has taken it one step forward, leaving Nintendo to think of something new to do. Like Nintendo, Microsoft has created the Kinect for the Xbox 360 as a way to combat the growing problem of people not getting enough exercise although it has meant that it is now more sociably acceptable to play on video games rather than play outside; which has its own disadvantages.
