5 best Ski Resorts in Colorado

Do you want to find the best place to ski in Colorado? The state is the home to many ski resorts and that offer routes for a range of skill levels. Colorado’s Rocky Mountains are 14,000ft above sea level and there are 55 peaks in the area that are higher than that! Here are the five best ski resorts in the state.

1.       Aspen

Aspen is one of the most well-known resorts and make the list due to the 320 different runs available, for different levels. There are four different areas to ski and celebrities are often seen enjoying the slopes.

2.       Silverton

For those more advanced, Silverton offers 116 different runs. The easiest is a 35-degree slope so it is not something for beginners. Close to the ski resort is the Montanya Distillers where you can taste the various types of rums, giving you something to do other than ski.

3.       Vail

Do you want something larger? Vail is the largest ski resort in the whole of America, with 5,000 acres of land. There are routes for all skill levels as well as the Colorado Ski and Snowboard Museum and the Hall of Fame, which offer regular events and exhibitions along with the history and amazing facts to keep the whole family entertained.

4.       Winter Park

You may not want to spend all your vacation on the slopes and want to do some recreational activities. Winter Park is the closest of all to Denver, the capital of Colorado, which offers shopping malls, movie theaters and rodeos. One of the best parts of this resort is the ability to strap a camera to your helmet and then take a DVD home of all the views you saw while on the mountains.

5.       Steamboat Springs

Steamboat Springs has been the home to 69 Winter Olympics; the most in the whole of the USA. As well as skiing on the 2,965 acre land, there is the opportunity to dine at the top of the mountain. There are three restaurants to choose from that all need a gondola ride to reach.

Colorado is a great place to go skiing, with so many different resorts. You don’t have to spend all your time on the slopes, with shopping malls, restaurants and distilleries in the area.
